Android Police and custom firmware maker Trevor Eckhart are investigating allegations that recent versions of HTC’s Sense UI is insecurely storing personal data. The investigation is looking into logging tools such as HTCLogger in theTaiwanbased firm’s Sense UI that is used to store personal data.

Certain HTC models can be accessed remotely because of the partnership HTC has with the VNC client that HTC loads on some of its phones.

We can’t say that someone is looking through your data, we are saying that it is possible that someone could. The phones involved include:

HTC Evo 3D (Sprint)

HTC Evo 4G (Sprint)

HTC ThunderBolt (Verizon)

Other models like the myTouch 4G Slide (T-Mobile) and the HTC Sensation 4G (T-Mobile) might also be involved. Unfortunately, models that have yet to launch like the HTC Vigor (Verizon) could be collecting your data!

We are waiting to hear from HTC about this breach in personal data. To be fair, they were advised of the problem a week ago and there is speculation that the manufacturer is looking into the problem with its own investigation. The data that is vulnerable include phone numbers, your recent movements tracked via GPS, SMS, emails, user accounts and more.

Let us know if you have one of these phones and how you feel about this breach in personal data?
