Windows Phone Mango Released To Manufacturing (RTM)

Microsoft officially announced that WP7 has been released to manufacturing (RTM) for optimization on different phones and networks meaning that the code has been completed.

Windows Phone 7’s has a codenamed of Mango and has had a major upgrade. It was also demoed showing the upgrade’s many different features.

Here is a quote from Windows Phone Blog:

“Earlier this morning, the Windows Phone development team officially signed off on the release to manufacturing (RTM) build of “Mango” – the latest version of the Windows Phone operating system. This marks the point in the development process where we hand code to our handset and mobile operator partners to optimize Mango for their specific phone and network configurations. Here on the Windows Phone team, we now turn to preparing for the update process. The Mango update for current Windows Phone handsets will be ready this fall, and of course will come pre-installed on new Windows Phones.”

There are over 500 new features on the Mango, which is an important software upgrade for Microsoft’s WP7 OS. There were several major complaints from users about the first version and Microsoft seems to answer them with their new features.

Now you will be able to: mulitasking, built-in Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn integration, threads which organizes all communication with a person (chat, texts, emails etc.), Windows Live Messenger and Facebook Chat integration, Unified inbox, a heavily-revamped Bing app, live-syncing with SkyDrive (MS’ equivalent to Apple’s iCloud), auto photo-fixing, revamped Marketplace, a much more powerful web browser Internet Explorer 9 Mobile and what we all need a battery saver mode.

The next two years will be very important for Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 platform. The first results ofRedmond’s deal with Nokia in the form of WP7-powered Nokia smartphones, are scheduled to be released this fall.
