Essential to RIM’s competition with Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android operating system is the ability to supply users with apps that may ultimately drive smartphone device sales. Blackberry has developed a new version of it BlackBerry App World. It is version 3.0 and has about 35,000 apps available. This is in comparison to the over 350,000 apps that are available for the iPhone 4 at Apple’s App Store. Google has an Android market and Amazon App store to distribute apps for their smartphone users.

A leaked screenshot shows that the new App World 3.0 will have a look and feel that is similar to RIM’s recently revised App World. The BlackBerry App World 3.0 version has a search bar at the top of the page, while the bottom of the page filters apps based on three different categories, Apps, Games, and Themes.
