If you are one of the users that got sick of waiting for the NoDo update for your Windows Phone 7 device, and managed to install the update through unofficial channels, you might be receiving some bad news since Microsoft announced that the users with the unofficial update won’t be able to receive future updates.

Microsoft is clearly stating all of the above in the following statement posted on their blog:

Phones updated via the unsupported method do not contain an official image and cannot be updated further at this time. Due to scheduling of engineering resources, we did not anticipate having to undue the changes made to phones by these unsupported methods. While we are not ruling out having a fix in the future, for now there is no fix.

Up to a certain point we can see how Microsoft is not to blame, considering that the unofficial update clearly affects the warranty of the devices in question, and might have permanent repercussions on these devices.

However, we are aware as well that the users that had trouble waiting for the official version of the update are those that really enjoy the Windows Phone 7 and simply could not wait any longer for more of it. More than this, we do not believe that Microsoft is in such position to lose customers, even though we are certain that the customers in question represent only a small customer base.
