Microsoft Statement About Location Issues

Microsoft officially stated that its mobile device does not store location info on their users.  Taking advantage of the current Apple issue is a smart move by the rival company.

The multi-billion dollar corporation confirmed that it has means of tracking down your phone with services like Find My Phone.   But with Find My Phone, Windows Phone owners are able just to find and interact with their phone when the device is lost or stolen. In order to achieve that, Microsoft is using a single location that is updated at a regular interval, unlike the iOS that stores apparently thousands of such locations.

The iOS is currently storing months’ worth of location data on devices like iPhone 4 and 3G iPad.  The data is synced each time the device is plugged in to your computer via iTunes. This fact was originally uncovered last year, but was not taken under public consideration until now.
