Gartner: Android Will Have 49.2% Market Share By The End Of 2012
One of the decisive factors in Android’s growth appears to be the lower cost, and apparently by the end of 2015, 67% of the open OS devices will cost about 300$ or less, a nice thought to have considering that most of the smartphones cost somewhere between 400 and 600 dollars today.
The analysis give good news to the Windows Mobile fans as well, considering that the estimates for the end of 2015 are 19.5% of the market share, opposed to the 17.2% for the iPhone and iOS and 11.1% for BlackBerry. Of course, the improved figures for the Windows Phone devices are not in a small part thanks to the Nokia deal, and we expect that by the end of 2015 the transition from Symbian to be nearly complete, and we are not the only ones to believe such a thing considering that Gartner predicts it to reach nearly 0.1% by the end of 2015 from the actual 37.6% in 2010.
Of course these figures mean nothing if the quality of the specified operating systems does not improve, and Android’s predictions will be accomplished or not conditioned by the current fragmentation that affects it.
