This all deal surfaced when Veracode analyzed Pandora’s Android app to see what kind of data is transmitted, and according to their analysis apparently, Pandora’s app seems to be integrated with five separate ad libraries, more precisely AdMarvel, AdMob, comScore (SecureStudies), Google.Ads, and Medialets.
As for the reason behind the gathering of all this private information, the story is a little bit tangled, considering that Pandora is claiming that this info is required in order to provide a personalized music experience, but the Veracode analysis contradicts that statement, their version being that this info is used for advertising purposes.
After this outcome of the analysis is very probable that the app for iOS will be under scrutiny as well, and the results of that scrutiny will provide an interesting insight.
We are certain that if the Veracode claims will stick into an instance, Pandora will face dire consequences, and probably a lot of users will choose different service providers. It’s a shame, realy…
