The Microsoft MIX conference in a week’s time, and the rumors are starting to surface concerning a new version of Silverlight that would allow users to play Windows Phone 7 games on their Xbox 360 device.

WinRumors has a source which is saying that Silverlight will most definitely be coming to the Xbox 360 at the MIX conference and this will be a stepping stone for a stronger, cross-platform gaming.

So far, we’ve regarded cross-platform gaming as a thing of the future, and when Xbox games where announced for Windows Phone 7 devices, we thought that it was it, considering that it was the only mobile operating system that could sync with your Xbox things like avatar control. We wanted more features, like the ability to resume gaming disregarding the platform we are on, basically strong cross-platform gaming.

We hope that the move to Silverlight on the home console could be appealing for developers as well since it should open up a new audience for game makers as well. Nobody wants to play 5 games on 2 or 3 different consoles, but everybody wishes to be able to play all 5 of them on each console
