17% Of Teenage Kids Already Own An iPhone And 37% Plan On Buying One

A recent study made by Piper Jaffray concerning teenage tech market revealed that 37% of 4500 high school kids are planning on acquiring an iPhone in the next six months, while 17% of them already owned one.

The one piece of surprising news is that 22% of them already owned a tablet computer and another 20% were planning on buying one in the next 6 months. The survey also is showing that 53% of them are also using their cell phones to play music, fact that is somehow refreshing to see considering that not so long ago you would have seen a high school kid now and then with a smartphone in one hand and an iPod in the other, and let’s face it, that is simply wrong.

The iPhone is the most likely to succeed on the teenage market due to the intense marketing efforts, brand and most of all thanks to the simplicity of use. Let’s face it, Android is a little bit too complicated for the average high school student and though BlackBerry is a nice choice for the heavy messaging type, it is not as fun to use as an iPhone.

This is a piece of good news for Apple considering that the preferences formed in the high school tend to accompany one up until far in maturity, so this is basically a get them while they’re young game.
