Grooveshark App Removed From Android Market As Well

One the most popular music apps for Android, Grooveshark, has been removed from the Android Market for violating the developer terms of service. Due to the nature of the app that allowed users to upload music to a communal database, we believe that most likely it’s all about copyright infringement, and more than this, it has a precedent considering that Apple already kicked out the Grooveshark app out of iTunes.

Grooveshark Mobile allows you to pull up any song they have on demand over 3G or Wi-Fi, cache tunes locally for offline access, build playlists, mark favorites, and see what your friends are listening to.

The developer stated on the Facebook page that another way of distributing the app is currently taken under consideration, and the most likely one is direct download, just like they already do for the BlackBerry version.

The app is free to use in browser as long as you can tolerate a few ads, but if you want to go mobile, you would have had to pay 9$ per month or use promotions like a year of service if you donate 20$ to Japan relief funds.
