Nokia CEO, Stephen Elop said that Nokia is already developing the Windows Phone 7 devices and dismissed the rumors according to whom this is the debut of an acquisition by Microsoft.

If the rumors were true, Nokia CEO says that his company would not be able to start developing the new devices already, and obviously that is not the case, since our first Windows Phone 7 device made by Nokia, might be launched optimistically this year. More to the point, Microsoft would not have much more to gain with an acquisition over a partnership.

Microsoft already paid Nokia more than 1 Billion dollars to adopt the Windows Phone 7 operating system, and many specialists believe that this might give Microsoft the boost needed to compete against iOS, Android and BlackBerry, and considering the huge production capabilities of Nokia, this way the reach of Windows Phone 7 might extend to the lower end of the smartphone market as well.

From this deal Nokia benefits as well since Symbian and MeeGo where not even close as competitive as iOS and Android. We are waiting anxiously to see the results of their hard work.
