This is a tested root tool and it works for HTC Sprint Hero devices. If you have CDMA or GSM HTC Hero you could give it a try, but i cannot promise anything. Anyway no harm can be done to your device, because if anything goes bad just reboot your phone and everything should be fine.

Before we can start the actual root guide, you need to do a few things to prepare like:
- Change your screen time-out to 1 minute from settings>sounds & display>screen timeout>.
- Make sure your phone is fully charged
- Check Unknown Sources from settings>applications>

Now follow the guide below to root HTC Sprint Hero.

Step 1: Download HeroRoot App from Here.

Step 2: Reboot your phone after the app has ran it’s course.

Step 3: After the phone is fully booted power it off again.

Step 4: Press Home + Power buttons until recovery pops up.

Step 5: In recovery mode choose flash zip from sdcard and rootme.zip. After that reboot and you should now have Super User app access.

Step 6: Your HTC Sprint Hero is now rooted. Go and uninstall the file that you have downloaded at Step 1.
