BlackBerry OS Update Tutorial | How To Upgrade Your BlackBerry OS

Many of you might not know how to upgrade an OS for your BlackBerry device, so i decided to make a simple and complete tutorial about the BlackBerry OS update. Follow the steps below and you will update your BlackBerry device in no time.

Step 1 : Download BlackBerry Desktop Manager latest version from the official BlackBerry Site.

Step 2 : Download the OS that you want to install on your device. You can find and download the latest official and leaked OS from 2-Soft of course. Is not necessary to download your carrier’s specific OS, any leaked version is good as long is compatible with your device.

Step 3 : Install the downloaded file on your PC.

Step 4 : Delete file vendor.xml from the path C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader (the path depends on where you have installed your BlackBerry Desktop Manager).

Step 5 : Use the USB cable and connect your BlackBerry device to your computer.
VERY IMPORTANT: The mass storage mode must be turned off during the OS update.

Step 6 : Run Desktop Manager- Your new OS should be detected automatically.

Step 7 : Fallow the steps that will appear on your screen.

Step 8 : Your BlackBerry will be update after the reboot. Be patient because the reboot could last for over 30 minutes.

IMPORTANT: Don’t forget to back up your data before beginning the update. If you don’t do this you LOSE all of your data!

tried exactly this but I am unable to update the software. It says "There is an error updating your software. One or more modules could not be resolved."

Do i need wifi to update it?I am updating from my pc which has a wired connection. The pop up before update says i may need to run a wireless update after that. Do i need wifi?

    Thank you :) I have the BB Curve 9330 for Verizon. I only see downloads for the 9300. What happens if I attempt to download the 9300 update for my 9330? Thanks SO much for your help! It's been like pulling teeth for me to get this update.

    When the download is done and I attempt to open it, it pops up a bunch of text. I am assuming this is user error? How shall I be opening this download to avoid the text box? Thx

  Best never to use DM to upgrade. Just run loader.exe from here.C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoaderThis will help both shahrul and shubhashish problems. Happy new year!

hi there i followed your steps, downloaded the os6 and also i run loader.exe from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader.. installed everything.. im still getting error message when i set up my email..

i want to upgrade the OS of my bold 9700. I stay in Nigeria and my service provider is MTN-NGN. I hope the official OS 6 is not service provider tied + it follows same steps as above

i've completed until the reboot part and an error popped out saying that error connecting to the device, what should i do? im using bb bold 9780
